A Passive Monument (Letter to the Future), 2021Wombeyan marble, hidden letter124 x 84 x 60 cmBuried deep within the work is a letter I’ve written to the future as a time capsule. Our current values and concerns will evolve and fade over time, and I’ve written to an undefined future to ask, ‘how are you coping?’. This is a patient gesture held within a passive pose. One day, this monument might be deemed irrelevant and cast away; broken open to reveal a lingering question.
